The words above are the cries of Citizens of DR CONGO where 70% of the world’s Cobalt supply comes from.

For sure it isn’t a crime to be blessed with raw materials/minerals. The way these raw materials are being harnessed calls for great concern.

The citizens of DR CONGO on a daily basis face a situation that can be likened to a person (Congolese citizens) who owns a house full of food stuffs (cobalt), the house (DR CONGO) gets invaded by foreign bodies (cobalt mining companies) upon discovering the value of the food stuffs(cobalt) in the house(Congo) by the aid of the care taker of the house (greedy Government officials). Surely the owner of the house (Congolese Citizens) wants to eat from the food stuffs in his house (Congo) but is being robbed daily of those foodstuffs (Cobalt), the same owner of the house in a bid to feed has to pick of the crumbles that fell off the abundance of his food stuffs while they were being carried away and still has to sell these crumbles at the same market where the abundance of his stolen food stuffs were sold. The owner basically is robbed in broad day light of means and resources that should have been an avenue for him to feed.

In this analogy, we can see that the house owner is reduced to the level of a beggar in his own house.

Falling back to the DR CONGO and the situation of Cobalt they’ve been blessed with, we see big companies that are into the production of car batteries, Electric cars, phone batteries, power banks and lots more constantly benefit from this very important mineral called COBALT.

These companies are supplied processed Cobalt by Chinese which they in turn use for production of the car batteries, power banks e.t.c.

Taking a critical look at DR CONGO, their standard of living is so low, poor educational services, little or no health facilities, little or no safety measures put in place while cobalt is being mined in DR CONGO. The list of the harm being done to the Congolese people.

The world needs a pointer to the events of the Cobalt mining and the conditions of which this mineral resource is being mined in the DR CONGO, that country needs help, her citizens needs help.
